Fire Outbreak in Samboja Lestari
Right now our team is fighting a severe fire outbreak in our rescue and rehabilitation center at Samboja
Lestari in East Kalimantan. Overnight 30 hectares of planted forest has been totally destroyed and the fire has moved close to our orangutan facilities. We need your supportto combat this fire and equip our teams to safely manage new outbreaks.
Without exception all BOS Foundation working areas both in East and Central Kalimantan are susceptible to serious fire threats. Equipment and training is urgently needed across all of our programs. Every dry season we face the threat of fire and dealing with it swiftly is critical. Regular patrols are undertaken, and increased significantly during dry months, to detect potential fire risks across the program areas.
