Melbourne Screening of “The Burning Season”
Melbourne Screening of “The Burning Season”
This film tracks three different perspectives on the fires that rage across Indonesia each year, destroying pristine rainforest, endangering orangutans and contributing to climate change.
Dorjee Sun, an Australian entrepreneur, searches for a solution through carbon-trading while Achmadi, a small-scale Indonesian farmer, sets fire to his newly acquired piece of forest to clear it for palm oil.
Meanwhile Lone Droscher-Nielsen deals with the fall-out of the fires, caring for over 600 orangutans at BOS’s Nyaru Menteng rescue and rehabilitation centre.
