The BOS Foundation is aware that discussions about Pony occasionally reappear in the media and on online platforms. Our communication approach focuses on verified, current information regarding her welfare and care.
Pony currently lives at the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where she receives professional care, daily enrichment to support natural behaviours, and ongoing veterinary monitoring. Her care follows the same high welfare standards applied to all orangutans under BOS Foundation’s management.

As an orangutan that cannot be released into the wild, Pony will continue to receive long-term care within a sanctuary-based environment designed to support her well-being and quality of life. BOS Foundation is currently developing a dedicated sanctuary island to provide a more naturalistic setting while ensuring appropriate supervision.
Our priority remains to ensure the highest possible welfare standards for Pony and all orangutans in our care.
